The Kelmarsh Estate is a rural area that straddles the A508 and A14 between Northampton and Market Harborough. The Kelmarsh Trust manage the land and much of it is worked by tenant farmers. In the centre of the estate is Maidwell Hall, gardens, parkland and event fields and there are several woodlands of traditional Northamptonshire ash woodland and mixed woodland and plantations.
Some of these woodlands and an old orchard provide an opportunity for general and woodland bird ringing and owl boxes are maintained on the estate by the Northants Ringing Group. Efforts have been made to try and attract Swifts as a breeding bird with the addition of nest boxes.
The Ringers in Charge on the estate are Neil McMahon and Lewis Aaron.
